LGBTQ+ Newcomer series – Culture Shock for LGBTQA+

February 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

The Niagara Folk Arts Multicultural Centre is a Community Center that offers Settlement services to Newcomers to Canada here in Niagara.

Newcomers from countries that discriminate LGBTQIA+ often come to Canada thinking this where they are free to live their identity without discrimination and harm.

Although Canada has legislation to protect LGBTQIA+ in theory, the reality is that LGBTQIA+ still face harm and discrimination in their daily lives. This reality hits Newcomers in their first few months and are left feeling disappointment, resentment, and culture shock.

What is culture? What is shock? Join us to talk about the cultural shock and adaptation, what happened during that cycle and put strategies to ease your journey of adapting to the new place of living.

Please don’t hesitate to register! Our staff members are here to make your experience informative and comfortable.

Newcomers, Refugees, PRs, and Citizens welcome in this space. You also have the option to keep your camera off to keep your identity hidden.
