Indigenous Solidarity Resources
June is National Indigenous History Month. This month is one of many steps we need to take to acknowledge and self-educate on the histories, complexities, leadership, and ongoing struggles of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples in Canada. We encourage you to check out the National Indigenous History Month events happening online and across the Niagara region
Activism and advocacy for 2SLGBTQQIA+ people can never be separated from our commitment to Indigenous solidarity. Many Indigenous people within our community identify across the 2SLGBTQQIA+ spectrums, and it is our responsibility to build spaces that support and embrace their individual and community needs. Furthermore, as we continue to gather and collaborate on Indigenous lands, we must be working to understand the histories, treaties, and responsibilities we hold . OUTniagara, through its Board committees and community projects are working on building and strengthening our organization’s relationships with Indigenous people and communities through the region.
